JERKBAITS (JERKS)
A jerk or jerkbait is one of the most effective lures for catching large predatory fish. These lures are designed for active animation with a spinning or casting rod, allowing them to imitate an injured or panicking baitfish. It is precisely this aggressive and irregular movement that often provokes large pike to attack.
Jerkbait fishing is particularly popular for pike fishing because these lures allow the angler to fully control the lure's action. With short, sharp jerks or "jerk" movements, the jerkbait makes sideways movements and changes direction, which looks very natural to predatory fish. Such a presentation is especially effective in shallower areas, near weeds, snags, and other places where large pike hide.
Jerks work best with powerful spinning or casting rods and baitcasting reels, which provide better lure control. They are designed for active fishing and can provoke even cautious or passive predatory fish.
NGT offers jerkbaits that are ideal for pike fishing in various bodies of water – lakes, rivers, and quarries. They are an excellent choice for anglers looking for an effective lure for hunting large predators and wanting to control every movement of the lure in the water. 🎣
