Competition Carp CS-5 series is an improved version of the standard Competition model, using different construction technology to enhance performance. This improvement increases the rod's stiffness, which provides faster recovery speed after casting. The Cross Winding system ensures a certain parabolic action, which helps reduce the chance of a fish escaping when steady, slow pressure is applied to the rod (during a fight).
The first guide is 50 mm in diameter, and the rod handle is made of EVA material, which provides excellent grip during casting. The reel seat features double metal rings, in the classic TVS style typical for carp rods. The rod's design is characteristic of all Sportex models – without striking colors, with perfect winding and a combination of SIC (Silicon Carbide) guides that easily withstand the strain when fishing with braided line.
While it may not have the same speed ratings as higher-end models, the Competition CS-5 can rightly be considered the most user-friendly carp rod produced by Sportex, especially when fighting a fish.
