The mat can be used in two ways – as a classic flat unhooking mat or with raised edges, which can be easily secured with Velcro straps at the corners. This design creates a safe and deep surface that prevents the fish from accidentally sliding off the mat. The thick foam padding effectively protects the fish even on hard or rocky surfaces.
