This large dragonfly larva imitation is designed for hunting inactive, sizable predators. When the fish become sluggish and cling tightly to the bottom, it's time for a large passive silicone bait, and X-Larva immediately comes to the forefront.
The lure's external resemblance to the medium and small Fanatik Larva lures is undeniable, yet there are also significant differences. Firstly, the head and thorax of the "older" version are made much more massive, so that a predator of adequate size would consider this prey sufficiently nourishing and worth the effort invested.
It is also very important that the massive tail section is flattened not horizontally, but vertically. This feature gives the X-LARVA tail from Fanatik a special oscillation pattern, characteristic of some massive worms that stand out for their particular effectiveness in animation with short twitches and minimal detachment from the bottom. The thin legs and "needle" tail complement a believable picture of a live, large larva's movement, introducing the necessary special high-frequency oscillation into its acoustic signature.
