What reel size do you need for pike, perch and zander?
As a starting point in Shimano sizes, perch often suits 1000–2500, zander 2500–4000 and pike 3000–5000. These overlap because lure weight, resistance and rod power are decisive. Large pike lures may require an even stronger reel or baitcasting outfit. Size numbers across manufacturers are not fully comparable.
Shimano Sedona FJ offers several sizes. C indicates a compact body, S a shallower spool, and HG/XG faster gearing. Choose the required line capacity too: excessively deep spools need more backing with fine perch line.
